Q: Asalam Imam Sahib,

I have a question I found this website http://www.simplyislam.com/products/DVDs/Childrens-DVDs and wanted to know which of these DVDs you would recommend for me to purchase for my grand kids as well as for the Mosque.

Please let me know what your recommend.

I have taken a look at some of the dvd samples on site.

We are living in a time period wherein we glue our children to media. It would be best for a mother/father to learn the stories and share it themselves with the children. This has greater impact on children and serves as greater bonding between parent and child.

However, if the above is impossible, by all means one can purchase such dvds. My only concern is that learning religion this way is contrary to what was done in the past, it desensitizes them to traditional systems of learning, gives them the idea that religion can be obtained like anything else. The realization that religion is not mere knowledge as much as it is practice departs from our youth.

Thus, one can get such dvd’s, however, only if better alternatives are lacking.
