leg that is cut of

Q: My friend had to have his leg amputated. What is the procedure? Is there janazah for it? Do we burry it in the back yard? Must it be at the graveyard? Jazaks

A: May Allah (SWT) grant your friend good health and ease. Your inquiry should make us feel fortunate for the blessings we are given on a regular bases.

The cut of portion should be disposed of in a respectable manner. It should be buried.

Some graveyards offer this service for free. Local laws may demand proof when taking such parts out of the hospital for burial. A letter from your local muslim burial committee maybe necessary to prove that it would indeed be buried at a given location.

I know in England there is a cemetery that has a place for people to come and bury surgically removed particles, so long as they have a medical letter, they would do it as a free service.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
