Q: i was married to a very successful man. He made the promise of $250 000 of mahr for me. I dont know what got into me but i cheated on him.  He forgave me the first time.  But after 2 years i had an affair and i got caught.  He divorced me because of the proof against me. He gave me 125 000 already. He said i am not entitled to the remainder. Do i also get expenses for my iddat?

I need this money because i am going back home and need to start my life all over. I have changed. I know i was wrong. Can you guide me.

A: 1)You are entitled to the mehr.

2) You will not be entitled to maintenance because of your cheating.

Wo/man should be open enough to express their needs. If you have particular needs, in future, express yourself. Negotiate your halal wants. Cheating should never be an option. In this life, a relationship can never be perfect. Perfection can never be found through cheating. Cheating only creates more problems. You have learned the hard way.

Turn to Allah (SWT). Make istigfar. Allah (SWT) will help you. But it is your duty to turn to Allah (SWT). This is the time you are most vulnerable. The chances of you making a bigger mess is greater now than ever before. Turn to Allah (SWT) and inshaAllah you will be guided, ameen.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
