Narrated Abee Al-Ainaa:

In Madina there was a person praying behind the Imam leading the Salaat.  The Imam remembered something so he interrupted his Prayer and left the Place where he was standing leading the Prayer.  Once the Imam left, this person stepped up to the Place of the Imam and kept waiting for a long time while People kept saying “Subhan Allah” to remind him to continue leading) the Salaat.  This person thought that the Imam had left so as to allow him to keep the Imam’s place while the Imam was away. (Instead of performing the salah and continuing it as Imaam, ) he kept waiting for the Imam to return!
