EID AL FITR 1431 (2010)

The following is a statement that has been made by the authorities of ISOGSL on their web site:

Data from the astronomical calculations suggest that the astronomical Eid-al-Fitr moon will be born on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.  However, astronomers predict that this moon may not be visible on September 8 anywhere except some Polynesian Islands.  Astronomers also predict that on Thursday, September 9, the Eid-al-Fitr crescent can be “easily” sighted in North America and most other countries.  Based on these astronomical data, Eid-al-Fitr is most likely to be celebrated on Friday, September 10, insha Allah.

Based on the above astronomical information, our Hilal Committee shall try to sight the crescent on Thursday, September 9.  The results of the committee’s attempt shall be available either by calling one of our mosques after 9.30 P.M. that evening, or by visiting this website.

EID PRAYER

Eid  al Fitr prayer will take place at 9.00 A.M., at Salt Palace Convention Center (100 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City).  Prayer will be held at Room 255.  The prayer hall is carpeted for your comfort.

PARKING IS FREE

You will park in the underground parking lot at Salt Palace. From the underground parking, take the elevator up to level 2 (for Mezzanine). As you step out of the elevator, a representative of our Society will direct you to the prayer hall.

DIRECTIONS TO UNDERGROUND PARKING

The underground parking entrance is located on 300 West, and between 100 South and South Temple (right across from Energy Solutions Arena), in downtown Salt Lake City.

As you enter the parking lot, an elevator will be situated just to your left.  Take this elevator up to Level 2 (Mezzanine).  Once you get out of the elevator, go through the only double door that is there.  Follow a long carpeted hallway (about 2/3 minutes walk) until you arrive at Room 255.
