Q: My friend told me that it is haram to wear artificial ring. I want to confirm if it is ok for women to wear artificial rings in finger commonly available in stores like walmart, target etc. etc.

A: For a woman to wear rings that are made of elements besides gold and or silver is viewed as makrooh (reprehensible actions). To do things that are makrooh without a valid reason can lead to greater sin.

To wear jewelry (not rings) made of elements besides silver and gold remains allowed. E.g. bracelet, pendants, etc. Only the ring should be made of silver and/or gold. Likewise, placed on the ring could also be a diamond, pearl, or any other precious metal. That would be fine.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

p.s. for the record, the stores you have mentioned do carry silver! You just got to know what you purchasing. Due to these stores not being Saks Fifth etc does not mean they do not carry what you can wear! Look for the silver numbering in the inside of the ring.
