I was asked a question by a Non-beliver that I did not know the answer to. So if you can clearfy this in deatil it would be great.

“Why was Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) the last and final messager?”

“Why was Adam (as)the first messager?”

“Why arent there anymore prophets?”

First an foremost, we sincerely appreciate your query. Your questions are fair on the surface. Our answers shared are not absolute. Detail would not be shared, however, you can research regarding each of the responses below and gain its necessary knowledge to share it with others. This would help you and others. You can share your added points and seek our correction, should you so wish.

1) Prophet (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) was chosen as a final messenger for multiple reasons. Amongst them:

*He was to be a seal of prophet-hood

*Allah has chosen him (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) to bring a completion and closure to all religions

*He (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) was to bring to humanity the perfection of religion

*Religious laws were to abrogate all other religious laws by way of perfection (even though similar in many aspects)

He (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) was to lead by supreme example in every facet of life

2) He was the first prophet and human because Allah has chosen it as such.

Allah loved him greatly and elevated his position as a result of his acknowledgment of eating the forbidden fruit.

Only Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) knows best why he had chosen certain people and not others for a given task.  Although this does not apply to you, as general rule, Muslims do not question these notions, for the reasoning of Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) is beyond the reasoning and intellect of humans and can never be comprehended by mortal beings.

3) Because Allah has chosen Nabi (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) as the final messenger.

note 1: Nonmuslims asking such questions must also answer a simple one: how does knowing the motivation behind why a given prophet (peace be upon them all) was chosen for a given task change any aspect of human existence or my life on earth? What is the limiting factor of my conversation/change/understanding?

Note 2: We have to view prophetic commands in relation to the truth as mentioned by God the Almighty and accepted in what Muslims term as ‘original Judaism and Christianity.’ These religions also outline the coming of Mohammad (pbuh).  When we examine religious data from a comparative gesture, Muslim belief can be understood by many that may originally have a resistance towards it.

note 3: The above questions can be asked about anything and everything. Generally the above questions are asked to delay belief in faith. For example, Why did Allah create water? Why were there prophets to begin? Can we not do our thinking with our God given brains? Why do majority of fish swim in water and not walk on land? Why is it that your father and mother are your parents? And not the parents of someone else?  Why does mickey mouse look the way he does? etc. etc.
