Q:
If a woman has a long menstrual cycle that last longer than 15 days can she fast and pray?

Time: Thursday December 17, 2009 at 6:33 pm

A:

Hanafee: Based on the above query, anything beyond her habit would be counted as istihada

Shawafee: If in the strain of her bleeding there is no difference and the bleeding is 15 days without any erratic period of non-bleeding. Then is such a case, she  must distinguish the menstruation and bleeding with calculating the last menses cycle she had that functioned as normal.  For example, if  her last (normal) menses was 7 days followed by 23 days of purity, she should consider the first 7 days of bleeding to be her menses and the next 23 days to be purity

For both, shawafee and  hanafee, during her istihadha she would have to make fresh  wudhu and pray her salah, she could even fast fast

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

type in menses in our search box for the difference between istihaza and menses, timetable regarding it, etc.
