Q: Salam aleikum!I m really in need for an answer and I hope insha Allah you can help me

I m Christian converted to islam (no mosk certificate yet, just said shahada).I m 18 and want to Mary a Muslim boy.
My father is against marriage and I saw that if I m under 21 I need his approval in paper, otherwise I can t marry.

What can I do?
In my country if I m 18 I don’t depend on father approval but I want to make marriage in Egypt.

A: Walaikumsalam,

When we choose to live in a country, we should also obey its laws. If the laws violate what we believe in, a procedure needs to be followed to amend its laws. Likewise, one should not break the laws of religion. As a general rule, one should never disobey their parents.

I would advice you to really think of the direction in which you are heading. Going from one country to another without good counsel may not be in your best interest. Although I appreciate you wanting to do the correct thing, the correct thing must also be done in a correct manner.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
