Q: Is my clothing dirty? My mom is not a muslim. I was raised in a home that has dogs. I used to be of another faith. I am reading mixed stuff. What do I do? Canpray with clothing? Am I impure?
Answer:

  • In general, muslims consider everything pure unless we have proof that something is impure.
  • If you have proof that the saliva of the dog has touched you, you would need to cleanse that area prior to praying. Additionally, if you have doubt if the dog has touched your clothing, as a precautionary measure, you should wash your clothing prior to praying with such clothing.
  • It may be better that you visit your family with clothing that is indented for ‘dog play.’ Before getting into your car, etc, merely change your clothing to that which is pure, so that way you are absolved from doubt.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
