Q: salam…i have committed a big sin,
we had a kitten and i physically punished it many times.,
i covered the cat with dustbin so as to scare the cat but moments later i found the kitten dead….i’m very ashamed of all my actions and have started praying to Lord for my mercy..
my intentions were never to kill the cat but i confess torturing the kitten many times..
somehow i felt i had a mental block and controlled by a devil.,
please advise me as i feel my Lord is very angry with me and i’m scared of his punishment..

Whenever we hurt any creation of Allah unjustly, rest assured we would attain a consequence. Likewise, if you are good to any creation of Allah within the parameters of religion, good things would happen to you.

It appears that you made a genuine mistake. Make tawba. To compensate for this bad action, each time you see a sister/brother/mother/father of this kitten, feed it, assist it towards shelter with this in mind that you are making a compensation for the bad action you had done towards this innocent kitten that you had killed.
