Many people in the community have begun making inquiries about the possible dates for Eid al Adha. As we do follow criterion for moon-sighting, our possible dates for the observance of Eid al Adha will be November 6 or November 7, 2011. According to Muslim astronomers whom we are in consultation with, they feel the possibility is greater for the 7th, however the possibility for the sixth is still an option.

Given that Eid al Adha is on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, all the confusion will be sorted out when the crescent moon for Dhul Hijjah is confirmed (most probably around the 28th of October).

For those of you who wish to follow foreign countries for your major days of celebration, you of course will still have that option. However, we have decided that as we live in the United States of America, local moon-sightings are more appropriate for us.
