Movie night and islam. Response can be read between the lines

Q: Imaam, in respect to you this is the forth time i have sent this question to you. I do understand you are busy. You are local imaam and i was advised to ask your opinion instead of a far away shiek. My question is this, Is it allowed to show the faces of people that are Sahaba to palpable youth? My daughter was describing a Sahaba to her friend on a movie and I did not know what to say to her. Is it recommended to show movies by religious institutions with religious people organizing such movie events? What are your thoughts? Should people and teachers of religion attend such events then shout  the impermissible nature of harams and halals. i.e riba, music, kuffar celebrations and the list goes on. hypothetically,  if friday or saturday nights are for movies should muslims also emulate such days as their movie days? Dr. (name withheld)

A: Not giving a response to ‘movie night’ would create an issue; giving a response would create even more issues. I hereby answer for the Imaam: he has given the following response based on a Hadith elsewhere and I have taken liberty to use it on his behalf with is acceptance and diction where necessary.

Verily, what is lawful is clear and what is unlawful is clear, and in-between the two are matters which are doubtful which many people are unaware. He (the one) who guards against doubtful things keeps his (her) religion and honor, and whoever who indulges in doubtful things indulges in fact in unlawful things like a shepherd who grazers his flock around a pasture (of another) will soon enter them into it (into the field of another.) Beware, every king has a domain and the domain of Allah (is His) declaring (of what remains) unlawful (upon his loyal servants.) Beware, in the body there is a flesh; if this piece of flesh is sound, the whole body is sound, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt, and behold, it is the heart. (Mutafiq alay)
