The life of this world is but play and amusement: and if you believe and guard against Evil, He will grant you your rewards, and will not ask you (to relinquish) your possessions. (47:36)

It is forbidden to watch that which promotes alcohol consumption, laxity as it relates to human/moral values, denigration towards human ethics, root for individuals that have a lapse in upholding the most superior of values – be it in their personal or professional lives, etc. To support such play and laxity is against the Quran.

It is a waste of time to watch adults playing with balls in front of millions of people whilst resembling the action of children. Our adult years are to be spent helping humanity attain the very best. To teach people on how to jump with a ball is not a major contribution to human life. It is unpleasant that rational adults would waste time with assisting with such ‘sportsmanship’ behavior. Watching such events and placing these events as key to our lives (or part of it) is a personal tragedy. Islam and rationality demands that we spend our time and wealth wisely.

Muslims are called upon to take an active part in events that would build their health and spirituality, not just the health and financial accounts of others who can care less for their existence.
