Q. Can a Hajj-e-badal be made for a deceased person who had already done their Hajj in their lifetime? I myself have not gone for Hajj.
Answer:
It is permissible to perform Hajj of behalf of another, even though the person you intending to person it for has performed their own hajj. However, if the one that passed away had made a bequest that a hajj be done on their behalf, then it would be also allowed to deduct to a maximum of one-third from their given estate for this given Hajj. If the deceased did not request that anyone do a hajj for them, then you would have to bear its cost.
It would be better for you to do your own hajj first. As a suggestion, when you are in Saudi Arabia, go to some good local credible scholar and ask request them to find someone for you to do the hajj-e-badl for the deceased from there. It would be less expensive. You would also get your hajj done as well. Your reward too insha-Allah would be great.
