Q. a custom occurs on Friday at our islamic center. An old man give gives us all itr. He places it on our hand.  Is there anything that states I must accept it?

A. It would be best and most polite to accept. Sunnah also mentions the significance of accepting Itr.

If you are sensitive to the scent, have your own perfume preference, or fear a headache, then politely refuse.
