But I could be patient for a week or two but for month thats long, and it seems like the imaaam answers questions he wants ONLY.
Response: We sincerely appreciate all the questions people send. As mentioned at the start of Ramadan in the musjid:
First preference within the month of Ramadaan would be given for questions pertaining to fasting, then Salah, then zakat, thereafter, all things related to those acts of worship that pertain or remain linked to Ramadan. Ex: forgiveness, anger, Tafseer, etc.
Priority is set as follows for this month: Answers are given to questions that are asked most often. Example: three people may send questions relating to marital crises, and a fourth person sends a query on gambling. Chances are we would answer the one on marriage, and not gambling. For interest is more in within the marital section than gambling!
Sometimes, we give preference to a unique question and place it as a high priority. For example, gambling would gain higher priority than marital issues, more so if the marital issue was already discussed prior.
Other times we give preference to a question that you may view as boring, but due to it’s depth as linked to research, we give it preference over others.
Other times, a person walks into the office and requests a speedy response for personal reasons.
Example of the Imaam’s current day schedule as observed by me as part of my class project of a religious and community leader
Friday September 11- 2009:
2: 00 am ends a marital conflict resolution in the musjid
3:15 am goes to bed
5:35 am prepares for fajr salaah
6:05 am teaches Quran to youth and reads Quran himself as part of his taraweeh preparation.
7:00 am answer media via phone query for Salt Lake Tribune as part of a scheduled appointment
8: 10 am goes to hospital to visit a person who was a regular at the musjid. Sympathy towards wife and children.
9:45 am meet Muslim family at graveyard, them wanting to learn do’es and dont’s of worship at a cemetery for a loved one that passed away. He was late for the cemetery appointment by 15 minutes due to cell phone calls from youth in Chicago dealing with social issues and education choices. May Allah (SWT) bless the family that lost its beloved
11:30 am church meeting to discuss similarities between Muslims and other faiths as outlined in the Quran
1:00 pm Arrive at musjid and prepare talk for Jummah. Also answer questions while preparing lecture of guests, and non-Muslim visitors (multitasking)
1:25 pm Jummah speech
2:40 pm Take guests to do banking
3:20 pm counsel Muslims regarding child involved in drugs
4:00 pm answers questions on kissing and fasting, blood seeping down the throat and it’s link to fast, questions on organ transplant and inheritance dispute, and simultaneously listens to students reading Quran and corrects them accordingly
4:37 pm Two convert Muslims walk in the office for gaining knowledge about Islam. Imaam answers questions about fasting and kafarah for diabetic patient
4:51 pm Excuses himself for a phone call from Park city from a person that read a great portion of the Quran and has questions about it. Seeks appointment with the Imaam
(Other appointments for the day do exist, but I shall stop at this point to post this. There are witnesses to this schedule should you wish to inquire about it’s accuracy. The regulars of the Musjid can vouch for the above schedule as a continual occurrence in some form or the other)
(#745)
Added cordial note from #745: Even if the Imaam chooses not to answer a single question, to us that would not be a crime. This site is a volunteer service from the side of the Imaam and the volunteer Admin team.
Again, we sincerely appreciate all the questions people send. May Allah (SWT) bless us all, Ameen
