Can one pray Tahiyatul masjid (salaam to the masjid nafl prayer) and an outstanding prayer in the same two rak’ahs (ie the same reward but one prayer?)

One cannot always bind their intention with nafl and fard.

When it cannot be done: For example, Salat ul Hajaat (salaah to fulfill ones needs) cannot be performed with a fard salaah as part of one combined niyat (intention).

When it can be done: However, Tahiyatul Masjid can be coupled with a fard salaah niyat.

(Same rule would apply for Tahiyatul wudhu. Wherin two niyats can exist in the given whudhu.)
