Q: I am trying to do a make up for missed prayers. Many years of missed prayers. Do i need to do iqamah and give azan for each missed prayer. This is what i am told to do. So must i repeat the ones i have done? I was quoted a hadith to show i was incorrect in not making Iqamah and azan. Another question. My cousin is saying i do not even need to do a make up for prayers. There is no such thing as make up and Allah forgives. Who is right? What is right? JAK
A: May Allah (SWT) reward you for your efforts in doing that which is correct, Ameen!
Rasool (SAW) during the battle of the Trench was made to miss 4 prayers. Later that night, Rasool (SAW) called Sayidinah Bilal (RA) to give the adhan. Thereafter, iqamah was called and Zuhar salah was performed. Thereafter, just the iqamah was called and the Asr was performed. Likewise, this took place for Magrib and Isha. From this hadith we can see that one Adhan sufficed for all the missed prayers, however, each prayer had its own iqmah. So, the schoalrs have deduced from this, for missed prayers, it is sufficient to just do the Iqamah. However, if this Iqamah is not done, the Qadah (Make up) will still be considered valid. This is the opinion of the majority.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
