Q: to increase the amount of people in our masjid our officials have a condition. They will only distribute zakah money to people that come to our masjid . last year our masjid distributed 250 000 dollars.  is this allowed?
A: One cannot distribute zakah money while attributing conditions to it. This is wrong. Zakah is the right of a poor sane mature muslim/ah.

It appears that the officials are ignorant of the basic Zakah rules/laws. It is a sin for them or anyone else to handle a department they are unaware of. This is a breach of trust as it relates to a great pillar of our religion and the people’s wealth they are representing.
