Subject: Message from McDonald’s USA

Hello XXXX: (Islaminaction.wordpress.com has omitted personal data and the blessed name)

Thank you for taking the time to contact McDonald’s. We appreciate this opportunity to share information with you about our French fries.

For flavor enhancement, McDonald’s French fry suppliers use a very small amount of beef flavor as a natural flavoring during the par-frying process at the potato processing plant. In the restaurant, the French fries are cooked in vegetable oil.

You may be interested to know that we recently updated our nutrition information to include the ingredients in “natural flavors” for all our US core menu items. Customers will now be able to find out if a natural flavor comes from a dairy, meat or vegetable source. Here is the list of ingredients

French Fries:
Potatoes, vegetable oil (canola oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor [wheat and milk derivatives]*), citric acid (preservative), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil ((may contain one of the following: Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness), dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent). *
CONTAINS: WHEAT AND MILK (Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients).

Answer: If the beef (or any other animal) attained was slaughtered from a halal animal in the name of Allah, then it would be halaal. Generally, such is not the case. As we know, Muslims do not slaughter all of McDonalds animals.

Thus, if it is slaughtered in the non-muslim manner, then we cannot vouch for it being halal. One should abstain from such products.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
