Q. Quran recitation at conference table, must we shut it off whilst talking to people.

And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it(with attention)  and remain silent, that mercy may be shown to you. 7:204

Thus, if a person is reciting before a group, one should listen to such a person, for we are instructed to do so. As far as recordings are cornered, they are not in the category of an in person recital. Live recitals are not in the same category as audio recordings.  They both are bound by differing rules.

I t would be best to listen to an audio recording in silence due to love and respect for the Quran.
