Q: Is yoga allowed? can we do it for mental peace? (text)
A: ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????
- We are to take part in activities that represent our core values. Yoga has its roots that are linked to the branches of hinduism.
- If a choice exists, seek a better general education class as part of your academic requirement. Not switching to an alternative sport or subject would require a sincere tawba.
- Classes and teachers affect our level of religiosity, thus we must take classes under those teachers that assist in our all round improvement.
- Some yoga sessions comprise of chants that conflict with judeo/christian and Islamic teachings. One is welcome to do stretchers and be part of an exercise program that does not conflict with our core values.
- General idea of yoga is to enhance concentration. This can be done superbly through islamic forms of accepted rituals and prayer which would also assist in gaining a greater spiritual bond with your Creator — awarding greater tranquility and spiritual reward than mere yoga sessions.
- Walking, jogging, swimming, fencing, cycling, etc. all function as more effective alternatives.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
