Allah Created Adam(AS) and Eve (AS), not Adam(AS) and Steve

1) It is not encouraged to talk to any person that deviates from the truth and flaunts that negativity upon others. To communicate with any deviant person should be with the intent to convey the message of morality and ethics to them. To be polite whilst attempting to accomplish halaal functions would be permissible when there is no alternative. To indulge in futile talk would contradict Quranic injunctions

2) Talk to them to the extent that is necessary. If you talk about gay behavior, only talk to that extent that would allow you to communicate the message of a healthy lifestyle to them. For this is also a form of conveying our religion to them. To convey a message ignorantly hurts Islam. Do not go into unwanted dialogue with people that deviate and live a lifestyle that is viewed as religiously unnatural

3) To voluntarily do so once they have refused to reform adverse habits while an alternative better choice exists would be to help in this sin. A believer does not do that

The man’s abundance of wealth covers up his shortcomings              He is believed in what he says while he is a liar               And a man’s lack of wealth belittles his intelligence.            The people take him as a fool while he is intelligent

Ayah: Do not take to futilities Ayah: Be with the company of the truthful Ayah: We must not emulate that which has no religious bases. Hadith: whoever emulates a people would be part of them on the day of judgment Hadith: All innovations stem from  misguidance(paraphrased)

  • We cannot allow our youth to follow that which emulates a pagan form of worship. Halloween is not linked to any of the monotheistic religions. Regardless of how hard we try to link it to religion, it does not have any true religious bases at all.
  • Muslims should dress as good examples. Dressing our children like witches, nuns, gangsters, etc. is against the Islamic dress code and formulates a terrible impression. Allowing our children to say: ‘ i am devil’ is just wrong. It assists the child in making a terrible distinction between right and wrong. Should the dress code be like that of your local sheik, then that dress code too would function as a mockery of that given good deed. For good dressing is not limited to a given day of the year. Its foundation should not start with Halloween! Continue Reading →

go easy with the perfume

Q. a custom occurs on Friday at our islamic center. An old man give gives us all itr. He places it on our hand.  Is there anything that states I must accept it?

A. It would be best and most polite to accept. Sunnah also mentions the significance of accepting Itr.

If you are sensitive to the scent, have your own perfume preference, or fear a headache, then politely refuse.

Sorry, but this Imaam is a lover of Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala)and  all the prophets including Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). He is also aware of his religious rights as well as his obligations.

Anyone who knows Musa (AS) also knows his (AS) attributes  and his (AS) inclination to tough love methods.

Having said that, in order to gain your forgiveness, merely tell us what you have said, and according to that we/he would forgive you. Just like a person would not buy all the candy bars in a given store, we don’t forgive it all at once. You must be specific as to what you said and did regarding him, and he would reciprocate in kind. The issue is not forgiveness as much as it is the principle of the matter. Continue Reading →

addiction

Q. Imaam, i am addicted to bad things. I am addicted to zinna (adultery). Can you give help or advice? (text message)

Answer:

  • know and acknowledge that it as a haram act
  • After every salah, ask Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) for forgiveness
  • Just think if the person you are committing adultery with to be your mother, sister, aunt, etc. Would you like people sleeping with mother, sister, etc. whilst them not being married to you?
  • impose a penalty on yourself. give $100 to a person you dislike as a penalty for your zina. $250 to a poor person, etc
  • Be in the company of people that don’t flirt
  • Go to the musjid for all your prayers

You can touch, hug, kiss, etc. (if married!)

Q. you answer about menses and prayers. How can a woman in menses keep her (young) husband happy? (sent to personal email box)

A. You can do all that which is halaal except the main act of intimacy known as jima in arabic

  • It would be best to abstain from actions that are inclusive of anything between your (female) navel and knees. Best to also keep this area concealed from him in a tasteful manner
  • You can touch, hug, kiss, etc.
  • Just keep him happy with all that which is hallal. He must do likewise for you.  Just keep him away from other woman and he must help keep you away from men that are haram for you.  This will also keep your relationship safe guarded from many social ills

Don’t take the ‘baby’ soap from just any place!

Q. Can a hotel patron take ‘baby’ soaps, shavers, lotions, note pads, pens and other complementary gifts from hotel rooms? What can be taken without it being theft?

A. Things given to you for your usage as ‘gifts’ or as part of making your stay comfortable at a hotel/motel would remain permissible for you to take home with you. These ‘takings’ generally falls into the category of complementary gifts and function as an enticement to clientele.

To take away bed sheets, blankets, towels, towel racks, etc. would not be allowed, unless agreed upon. It is clearly understood that these items remain for in-house usage.

It would be best for you, if you are in doubt, merely consult with guest services and ask them for clarification as to what are the consequences if certain items are taken from the room. There response would be an indication of what would constitute theft or a gift towards its patrons.
