nothing like the sacrifice itself

Q. Can I send money overseas to help the poor instead of doing the Qurbani?

A. No.

You can however have your animal sacrifice done abroad and feed the poor with a given sacrifice. You cannot give money in place of doing a sacrifice. There is a time for everything. So always be kind to yourself and do the correct thing at the correct time.

pants or no pants

Q: Assalam alaykum.

I am a Muslim girl. 1) i was wondering if its okay to wear pants/trousers? 2) if so, what are the boundaries?
Time: Tuesday November 17, 2009 at 7:27 pm

Answer: ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????

Yes. Best for you to wear pants. Not doing so is not a haram action. Doing so is better for your Imaan.

Wear that set of pants that does not represent the fashion of non-believing persons.

is makeup for married or just single woman?

Q. 1 Assalam alykum.
I am a muslim girl and not married. i was wondering if its okay to wear make-up(eyeliner,blush and mascara)? my friend always bothers me on wearing it due to the fact that i look tired and i dont look cute.and i respond to this by telling her that its haraam since am not married. but please tell me the significance of wearing it; because there are people who wear it for different reasons. 1.) for themselves to look beautiful 2.) To attract men.

Q.2 In our culture, married woman can wear makeup only. Is is true that married woman can use makeup. Non-married woman cannot.

Time: Tuesday November 17, 2009 at 7:36 pm

A: ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????

Woman should not use attractants (makeup) in public without the face and body being well covered. This rule applies to married as well as single woman. (24:31)

Woman should wear the makeup under their hijab — be they single or married.

You are welcome to beautify yourself for your family, regardless of your marital status. Islam does not have a double standard between married and unmarried woman with the display of self to strangers or intimates (family, husband, etc.) A married woman must be modest. A single woman must be modest. Both would be awarded their Jannah in accordance to their compliance of Islam.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

(Answer the following for your personal benefit: Why would you be friends with people that put you down? Those that that do not respect your legitimate opinions? Why would you want to be friends with people that possibly want you to look good for strange men? Do you want men to view you as an object? Is your purpose in life to seduce strange men, live to make strange men happy or yourself and your Creator happy?)

Does Islam really say kill em all? Islam is not based on what you think or i think or care not to think

Q: Assalam-o-Alaikum, I am a student studying at BYU . Since i am studying at a religious school off course Christian, it’s not uncommon for me to come across people who ask question about Islam. There are a lot of questions but one question that I was recently asked is about people who convert to another faith from Islam, since the common belief in Pakistan is that They should be murdered. However personally since Islam gives everyone the freedom to practice there religion I don’t find it very convincing that a punishment like this would be prescribed  for a person who wants to convert from Islam. Hence I didn’t really have an answer for this question. So would you please clarify what exactly is Islam’s perspective on this issue and how should this question be addressed. I have looked at your website and I really appreciate the work you are doing, since it has helped me present a better image of Islam to my friends. Thanks a lot. Continue Reading →

its all filth — white or black — keep away– depend on Allah (SWT)

Q. ok fair enough, blk magic is forbidden. Read your answers on em. Can we have white magic for good health on ourselves? (Friday night student, personal email box)

A. All types of magic must be stayed away from. They stem from the agents of shaytan. Their intention is control matters away from the Mercy of Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) to the pitch of shaytan and the lowly urges and desires of humans. Stay away from them all.

Good filth and bad filth are both filth. They affect ones Imaan. They affect our relationship with people. They eventually fail us — sometimes in this world, sometimes in the hereafter, and other times, in both the worlds. May Allah (SWT) save us from all types of manipulation.

Allah certainly knows best.

general dua for a general audience

Q. Imaam, I need a general dua to make to a nonMuslim audience. It’s for a project to help the homeless and other needy. (personal email.)

A. Here is your general dua for a general English speaking audience.

O our Lord, we ask you to bless our gathering with all that we are to accomplish in this worldly life of ours. We ask You oh lord to bless us in the hereafter as a result of our noble deeds. We plead and seek your Mercy and Love at all times.

Oh Lord, we ask you to make our hearts continually generous towards the weak and needy. Let our hearts be continually kind towards the youth as well as the elderly. We ask You to give warmth and shelter to all, just like You have given us.

Oh Lord, we ask Your assistance in helping our state as well as our nation to remain on the path of prosperity, kindness and compassion towards all people. Let it be that our prosperity exists to assist people in doing good actions and maintaining all forms of good for humanity.

Oh Lord, You are the one that accepts prayers, and we ask you to accept ours, Ameen.

Qurbani is only wajib upon the following persons:

Q:
asak,
how are you all?? by the grace of almight we are fine. i have a question??? If a person is going to Hajj he has to give qurbani in his name in madina or mecca, can his family members give qurbani also for the person performing hajj in his home country.

waiting for your reply.
allah hafiz
humayun

Time: Friday October 23, 2009 at 4:08 am

A: ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????

A person performing hajj would not have do Qurbani in either of the two blessed places you have mentioned.

Doing a qurbani would gain a person great reward. But its not obligatory upon you.

Should you reside in either of the cities for more than 15 days, then you would turn into a resident (muqeen) and you would become eligible to perform the qurbani. Should this be the case, you are welcome to do the Qurbani wherever you wish.

Qurbani is only wajib upon the following persons:

  • Muslim
  • Free person (an individual that is not a slave.)
  • Resident, not a traveler
  • Person who possesses Nisab of the zakat

For your added benefit please click here

Kindly remember us all in your prayers while in Hajj.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
