Q: Ya shiek. Ya habibi.  I do tax service. This is what do. The tax return due to the client is a refund amount of 250$. I only give 200 bcuz they want it same-day instead of waiting 30 to 45 days. Is this allowed in islam. The money i make is no less then $7000 a month in this way. If you need my assistance for taxes, or want to learn it, please contact me. No charge for you. are you sure he said what you say he said?

Q: On Friday (june 04-2010) a scholar was allowed to speak at the musjids of Islamic societies. My friends and I were present for both of his speeches. It was said I quote: saying  lailahaillah alone and not living a life of a muslim (100%) they would die as a kaffir. One day you guys claim that a person who says lailahaillah is a muslim and would enter paradise. Then you guys say no jannah unless you live a certain type of life. I don’t know if u guys know that we try our best. I come to prayers. Yes it is only once a week but I have two jobs. One to support myself. The other to support my mother and father and sister and brother-in-law who lost his job. I am sorry my family is not a robe wearing person that cannot live a perfecto life. Now I am going to die a miserable death according to your greater salt lake society. So why do I donate to you guys? For hell??? So am I a Muslim if I also sin? Please answer this question. It was a discussion that took place between five of us and we just need clarification as you call it.

you play your game, let others play there game

Q: Asalamualaikum,

Sometimes when listening to an Imam or lecture on a given topic in deen (ex. being negative, Salah, etc) rather than thinking of ourselves, thoughts of how others are that particular way float through our minds.  This may or may not happen to everybody but can you help in identifying the cause and the solution to fixing this incorrect way of thinking.  Is this natural? What does Islam say regarding this? and would this be punishable in the sight of Allah?

Whoever imitates a people is from them.

Q:
Asalamualaikum,

“Whoever imitates a people is from them.”

Can you give a very detailed explanation of this Hadith?
In classical Islamic legal texts scholars divided this concept into permissible, forbidden, disliked and, at times, the obligatory.

How does this apply to Muslims today? where are some areas we imitate the non muslims where we shouldn’t and where are some areas in which it really may not affect or jeopardize our Iman like wearing pants and shirts???

thanks

‘I have committed zina, before marriage.’

Q: Assalaam Walikum,

I have an issue, I would like you to email me privately on this one. But, if you think it is a good one to share, its okay you can post.

I have committed zina, before marriage. I am feeling regretful that I had. On top of this, their is a muslim girl who is hijabi and I am drawn to her. I do not want to get together with her, because of my past behavior. I see her as a good muslim, because she choose to wear hijab (before she did not) and I cannot live with myself if I hurt her in this way. At first I was intimidated by her, because she is a good muslim (like, i don’t match to her level), but their is something drawing me to her.

I hope you understand what I am saying. Please give me your thoughts, or suggestions, as you did for others in this similar matter.

Salaam walikum

for an added 15% can i lie?

Q: I import clothing from china. I am extending my business to importing tiles from china. To avoid (higher) taxes on tiles  my (non Muslim) accountant has shown me a way I can make changes to increase my intake by up to 15%. i was told in a country that is nonmuslim it can be done. Or in a muslim coutry that does not live as muslim country. Others in the tile bussiness are doing it. The said changes would be lies. Can i feed my family with this earnings? So moulana saeb can this be done? (email)

A: To do that which would bring you maximized benefit whilst fulfilling the law of the land and fulfilling the higher moral ground (your religion) is permissible. What you are seemingly alluding towards is not!

The last part of your question alludes that you are seeking permissibility to lie/cheat/deceive/fraud your possibly adopted country.  Kindly correct me if i am incorrect in such thinking. If you are seeking consent to lie, I am sorry I cannot help you on that. To do so would be wrong on both of our paths.

To lie would reduce the purity of your earnings. To deal with people that want to assist you in lying can eventually hurt both of you. To cheat would affect the condition of your faith. You would also reduce the quality of your prayers, worship and blessings.

We must motivate each other to be honest. This is part of religion as per ayah/quran. It is always best not to lie and cheat on any matter.

Although this is a nonmuslim country, it is a country that is giving Muslims security and comfort, sometimes more comfort is attained in USA then other so called Muslim countries. To repay America or ones country with deception is wrong by all standards. Be honest and Allah (SWT) would reward you in kind. The argument that USA is a kuffar country and therefore we can cheat it has been researched and denounced by all well mined Muslim scholars in light of the many variables which relate to Muslim safety in America, etc.  Others jumping into the fire should not motivate you to jump in it. To feed ones family from portions that are haram would also be haram.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

Australia lawmakers vote against burqa ban

Christian Democrats Party’s bill to ban burqa is quashed in upper house, Greens parties condemn it as racist.

SYDNEY – Lawmakers in Australia’s most populous state voted against banning the burqa Thursday, with one accusing the Christian MP who moved the bill of stigmatising Muslims.

Fred Nile, of the right-wing Christian Democrats Party, urged the New South Wales parliament to vote in favour of banning the full Islamic veil for security reasons and to “set women free from domination of males“. Continue Reading →
