Q: Assalama Alaykum,
What are the etiquettes on praying Qiymul Layl:
1) For example, I heard that the best way is that you should wake up from your sleep in the last portion of the night and then after you pray go back to bed again before fajr.
2) What about during Ramadan: Can you pray Qiymul Layl when you wake up to eat shuur?
Jazakalhu Khair Shiek for your time
A: ?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????
Both of the above are correct to do. Former method (point 1) would be more rewarding for it shows greater sacrifice. One minor addition, one need not fully sleep. Merely lying down for a brief duration would also suffice. Should a person fear over sleeping, then they need not go and take a very mild nap.
Hadith of Aysha (RA) makes mention that tahajud was performed at times during the first part of the night as well as after the half of the night had passed. Waking up and reading after half the night has passed proves more rewarding. Yes, one can read Qiyamul layal, there after eat and perform Fajr. The reward for this is also great as mentioned in the Hadith and books of doing virtues deeds.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
Cordial note to our youth: Praying an entire night and missing fajr would not reap you the maximized reward. Fajr salah is more rewarding then an entire night’s worship.
