Q: I have heard from many muslims that the shaiton lives in the bathroom. I seem to believe this. Is this true or is it a myth?

Answer: The main devil has accomplices. They reside in many different places and take on different forms including that of humans, animals, etc. Shaytan and his agents also roam the streets, hang around your local supermarket, bathroom, in some of us and our friends (when we let them by way of our poor actions.)
We have the power of faith; this means we have a weapon against shaytan. Thus, whenever we read a dua when entering the toilet/bathroom, when we wear our clothes, take the name of Allah when doing an act of good, when making and being in the state of ablution, etc. then all these doings become a weapon against shaytan. As Allah states: the ploys of shaytan are feeble (to the faithful when they include Me in their actions.)
Your faith should be so strong in Allah that you should never be weakened regarding him (more so in this blessed month of Ramadaan.) This can only take place if you remain steadfast in doing the right things all the time. As we learn from the Sayidinah Umar (RA), shaytan would flee the street he walked on. Likewise, if we did the best of actions, shaytan would limit his contact with us too.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
