Assalamu Alaikum,
Is it harram to say, “Oh Allah, please do not make me ungrateful, and before I become ungrateful to you, and you become displeased with me, take my life away?”

Dua is a private communication between you and Allah (SWT). One must be very sensitive to this act of worship. Dua is the only thing that can change destiny.
To place such a curse upon the self would be wrong. To make such a dua shows ingratitude to Allah for creating you. For Allah is never totally displeased with a person until they chose to die without Imaam! So do not let shaytan toy with you by becoming negative! We are to be a blessing to all including ourselves. One cannot oppress oneself with pessimism. We are Muslims and we must trust in our Allah. Thus, the latter part of your dua in its absolute form would be incorrect. A Muslim should wish for a beneficial and positive life. They must work towards it. This is what makes a Muslim a great person. This is the struggle that makes our paradise so vast and great.
A prayer in line with your type of thinking:
Oh Allah do not make me amongst the ungrateful. Oh Allah, due to my weakness, keep me focused upon your bounties and blessings you have showered upon me. You can also add: Oh Allah, you are the Best and always allow me to accept whatever You have willed for me. Oh Allah (my True Master) keep me grateful towards you, Ameen.
Allah treats his servants as they think of Him, (hadith.) So make your duas wisely. Be positive. Allah (SWT) will award you your wants at the appointed time. May Allah accept all (y)our duas, Ameen.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
