Q:
Asalamu Alaykum,

1) (And if they stand for prayer, they do so lazily to be seen of men and they do not remember Allah except a little.) (An-Nisaa’ 4:142)

How can one avoid that?
2) how can we keep our intention consistent when at times feels wishy-washy?
I’m sorry if my question doesn’t make sense.

In attempt of answering or taking into consideration thanks, may Allah subhana’wa ta’ala reward you, ameen

1) The ayah refers to the how the Munafiq prays to Allah. They pray to deceive people, they do it for pomp and show, they lack diligence. Negative behaviors show in their prayer.

2) Wishy-washy behavior is from the contributing factors of shaytan. It is also as a result of  losing control as to who you are as a human – your naffs (passions, ego) need to be also better monitored.

Shaytan is your enemy. When you see a lapse in yourself, ask yourself: why am I becoming the agent of the one I am to despise. When you feel tired without a valid reason, fight it with doing some task to make yourself more religiously more accomplished.

Wishy-washy contributing behavior patterns:

Eating too much, chatting  to much – online addiction, texting without reason, watching unnecessary television, addiction towards movies, listening to music and building the heart towards hypocrisy, addiction to the internet surfing, reading romance novels and gossip magazines, wasting ones night on useless actions that one would be ashamed to make public,  sleeping too much, lacking accountability for actions, being defensive without valid reasoning, etc. These are behaviors that reduce your astuteness and contribute to making you wishy-washy.

Monitor yourself better. Gradually, wishy-washiness would be washed away,  Insha’Allah, Ameen.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

p.s. May Allah bless you as well, Ameen
