Q. can a muslim feed nonMuslims turkeys that were not slaughtered the halal way? What kind of turkeys can we feed nonMuslims? (test message, shortened due to time constraints)
A: Muslims are to represent Islam to all in a correct manner. We cannot preach halal and feed haram. Islam does not even want us to feed our animals haram foods.
You can feed them halal turkeys. However, it is best not to do so during their given holiday. A Muslim celebrates holidays in line with their religion. Thanksgiving is not a Muslim holiday. Muslims give thanks everyday for the bounties of Allah (SWT) bestows upon them. To limit it to a given day would be a mockery. Regardless of how noble the intention or deed.
As Muslims, we are not denouncing the value of this holiday for our friends and neighbors. We support the good this nation represents and we must assist in areas that need reformation. We are also called upon to evaluate the value current holidays have in relation to current values of our religion and nation. We can invite people over for Eid and show them how we take part in our moments of celebration and worship. The intention should be propagation of cherished Islamic values.
Duty of a Muslim to is promote good at all times. To feed someone haram is to promote haram. To be active in this process is contrary to our religion. Best to abstain from such an adverse habit.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
