Q:

Assalaamu’Alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakatuh imaam!!!
What is the best way to spend our last ten days of ramadan? I heard the prophet Muhammad(PBUH) used to do more compared to the beginning or middle of ramadan, what did he do that we could practice. If the sister is in her menses can she still wake up in the middle of the night and do istaqfar and dua?-will be count same as the one praying or her prayer be answered? Can a sister do ite’kaf? What is the best ibadah for a sister to do?

Answer:

  • You could do more Taraweeh (if you are an 8 rakat slacker),  perform nafl salaah, make more dua during Tahajud Salaah, pray for your parents, grandparents and those that they all love, read more Quran, increase istighfaar, talk less, do only those tasks that are worthy of doing, eliminate gossip, do not chat to those that are forbidden for you to chat with online or in person, protect your eyes, stay far from the works of shaytan (i.e. lewd TV shows and its counterparts) increase good thoughts of Allah( Subhanahu Wata’Ala) and those around you, give more charity to the needy friends and family of your parents and yourself, be good to all your teachers, practice and command good actions, soften the heart with its continual cleansing, be a genuine well wisher to everything noble, etc.
  • Yes, she can make Istighfar and dua
  • It would count as same as regular prayer, provided this is what she had done prior. Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) would not give a person less if they did the very same action during other ramdaans as well as out of the month of Ramadaan whilst in good health. Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) is not unjust to His faithful servants
  • Under general conditions a woman can do itikaaf . However, in the state of menses she cannot do so. Itikaf in the state of menses must be repeated out of Ramadaan for woman
