Q: What is the difference between muanaqah and moosafaha? I see in college guys shake hands yuet woman dont. Do muslim men only express affection? Thank uofu student. Also when is best time to visit the mosque?
A: Musafaha is the shaking of hands between two people. This can be done generally on a regular bases. Example, meeting a friend every day at work, meeting a person once every Friday, etc.
Mua`naqah is when the necks of both parties meet through the hugging motion, usually occurring after an extended period of time. This would not occur on a daily or even a weekly bases. It shows greater affection between persons.
To show affection between members — it is always nice to at-least shake hands when meeting with another person, mainly between strangers of the same gender. Sometimes shaking hands may be difficult due to people being at a distance, due to rapid movement or it just being impractical. In such a situation, they can greet vocally from a distance without a hug or handshake.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
p.s. Best time to visit Khateeja mosque would be at 1:20pm on any friday of the year. Kindly Contact Musjid Noor for their timings.
