dreams and their pleasure

Q. I asked a question before but did not fully understand. If a sister sometimes daydreams and she feels liquid, you she doesnt have to make a ghusal. But what if the sister has daydreams and then she experience some kind of pleasure but doesnt know if this is an orgasm? If it is caused by clothing, etc. …. Does she need a ghusal?

AnswerGhusal is necessary when:

  • A person is able to confirm semen. The person also remembers the dream that sparked the wetness
  • A person notices the semen, even though the dream was forgotten
  • Conviction exists that it is precoital fluid and also remembers the dream
  • No surety exists if its semen or precoital fluid but remembers the dream
  • Person lacks conviction if its semen or that which is known as wadi (that fluid which is released prior to urine, yellowish at times, and somewhat slimy)
  • Conviction is lacked whether its pre-coital fluid or wadi but recalls a wet dream
  • Persons cannot recall if its pre-coital fluid, semen or wadi. All they recall is that they had a wet dream
    • Person does not know if it was pre-coital fluid or semen and cannot even recall a wet dream

Ghusal is only necessary in three of the outlined conditions below:

  • Doubt if its semen or wadi. One cannot also remember the dream (ghusal wajib)
  • Cannot figure out if its pre-coital fluid, semen or wadi. Individual also cannot recall the dream (ghusal wajib)
  • A person is firm upon the fact that it is pre-coital fluid. Even though such an individual cannot remember the dream (ghusal wajib)
  • Doubt exists if its pre-coital or wadi and forgets the dream (no ghusal necessary)
  • Conviction exists that its wadi and only remember the dream (no ghussal necessary)
  • Conviction exists that it is wadi but no remembrance of dream exists (no ghusal necessary)

(Note 1: when we used the word wajib, it is based on Imaam Abu Haneefa and Imaam Muhammed’s rulings. Imaam Abu Yusuf differs with them. It would be better to error on the side of precaution and follow the rulings of Imaam Abu Haneefa and Imaam Muhammed.)

(Note 2: Sperm has a tendency to sometimes become watery-like or lose its thickness, and thus may resemble Mazi (pre-coital fluid). Due to this attribute, it would always be best to make a fresh ghusal. (See Al Ashbah-Whan-Nazahir Page 64, also view Nurul-Idaah Page 37 for greater detail)

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

p.s. We are perplexed. How can she not know if she had an orgasm while she was awake? See if above helps.
