Q: Assalama Alaikoum imam,
So is the brown discharge right before you menses or after your menses still count as your menses? I usually get brown discharge with the red together but then some time I have just brown discharge for hours before the red one and sometime I would have the brown discharge for up to 2days before the red one comes. So under all these circumstance, does the brown discharge count as your menses? Also, towards the end of my menses some time the red discharge stops and then i would have brown for 2 days before I see the clear one. So when you have to make gusul, the clear discharge is what designates your menses are over?
I also heard before making gusul to make wudu and then gusul? is that right…if it is right how does your wudu go through before you make gusul?
May Allah(s.w.t) reward you for your time.

There is a standard or generally preferred rule: a discharge that is other than white is considered a discharge of blood. Thus, your brown discharge must be calculated as within the bleeding category. Based on this you can do you calculation and view it as istihaza or haiz.
