Siad: That is month that people neglect between rajab and Ramadhan, it is a month in which the deeds are lifted to the Lord of the worlds, so I beloved to me that I am fasting while my deeds are lifted” Narrated Ahmad 20785, Nasai 1/322, Baihaqi 3820, Albani commented on it to be Hassan tradition from the Prophet. Muadh bin Jabal Said on the authority of the Prophet“Allah looks upon all his creation on the night of half of shaban and forgives everything except a polytheist and a ill hearted person” تفسير القرطبيتفسير سورة القدر” وعن ابن عباس أيضاً: أن الله تعالى يقضي الأقضية في ليلة نصف شعبان، ويُسْلمها إلى أربابها في ليلة القدر”In Tafsir of Qurtubi (Tafsir of surah Qadr) Ibn Abbas said that Allah decides matters on the night of the half of Shaban and then hands over the decisions to the angels on the night of Qadr. Ibna Tayimiyah was asked about the night of half of shaban (Volume 23 page 131 of Fatawa al-Kubra)He replied that if a person were to pray the night of half shaban alone or in a private congregation as some of our predecessors used to do that is good. However, gathering in the mosque on a determined amount of prayer like 100 rakats with reading sura ikhlas 1000 times always is bida and non of the imamas liked that. Imam Shafi said in his book The Umm that duas are accepted on the night of half of shaban Amongst the scholars who used to be consistent in upholding this nights virtue are Ibn Asaakir (the hadith scholar of Damascus) and the Tabeen Makhool and Khalid bin Midaan.
