layla-tul-Qadar concern not justified

Q. As Salamu Alaykum,

So I’m worried that my menses will be coming soon, and it will stop me from praying on the night of layla-tul-Qadar.
I was wondering is there any other form ibadah I can make that is just as great as perfoming salat?
Yeah  I can make dua and recite qur’an, but that’s not as great making prostration towards Allah (SWT).

Ya’allah you men are so lucky that the only thing that stops you from salat is death. Take advantage of that!

A.

?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????

Do not live in worry and concern on matters beyond your control. To do so is tantamount to showing discontent with the manner in which Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) has created you.

You can read Hadith, make istigfaar, ask your family and those around you for forgiveness, listen to good recordings, make duaa, reflect upon the greatness of Allah(Subhanahu Wata’Ala), reflect on aspects that are linked to the best of His Creation, reflect on wrongs committed so as to never commit them again,  etc. All you are exempted from is reciting the Quran, salaah and fasting. Missed Fasts would have to be made-up at a later time.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

Many other occurrences stop men from salaah other than death. Please refrain from passing out homemade fatwas on our site regarding the luck of men, etc. It would just confuse people more. Ask your question and move on. May Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) bless you. Do think of us in your prayers as well. Ameen.

zakat. Yes or no?

Question: Assalamualaikum Shaik,
I have one question on Zakat.
Recently I have purchased some property. Do I need to give zakat on the property value?
I have read in some islamic sites that we dont need to pay the zakat on property if we have intention of living in it. But if we have the intension of making money on it as kind of investment, then we need to pay zakat on it.
I dont have the intention to leave in it. But I have intention to sell the property to make my future home.
Please clarify me whether I need to pay zakat on it or not?
Jazaka Allahu khairan.

Answer 1) Property purchased to reside upon would not require one to pay zakat on it.

Investment property would require zakat to be paid upon it. The amount of zakat would depend on the current years market value of the property.

Answer2) Buying property for personal usage and intending to sell it later on would require for you to evaluate the following: if the intention is for personal usage, then no zakat obligation would remain on you. If it was purchased as an investment to sell later on, zakat would be due. It seems like you have opted for the latter. Thus, in your scenario, zakat would be necessary. Should your intention change, so would the requirement for zakat.

keep your saliva in your mouth

Q. Does it invalidate the fast if somebody kisses his wife?
A. ??? ??? ??????? ??? ??? ??? ???? ?????? ???????? ? ????? ??? ?? ???? (bahrur ra iq 6:191)

Kissing in itself does not break the fast. One must make sure that there is no exchange of saliva, taste, etc. that exists as a result of such a kiss.

It is best that one refrains from doing things during their fast that could lead to adult related actives. These adult related activities could result in not just the invalidation of a given fast, but make kaffarah necessary. Kaffarah requires a person to fast 60 fasts consecutively.

woman and janazah

Q. Why is it that sharia has banned woman from performing salat-ul-janaza?

A. Where did you get your data from? How did you draw such a conclusion?

Women are allowed to pray salatul janaza, however, it is not preferred. All major Fuqaha (scholars) agree that it is not preferred for women to attend the Janazah salaah.

i am not mad, but i get mad…

Assalamu Alaykum,

What is the best way to control our temper? And how can we teach ourselves to become silent? (hopeful&calm)

Time: Thursday September 3, 2009

Answer:

?????? ?????? ????? ???? ???????

????? ? ???? ????? ? ?????? ? ???? ??? ? ??? ? ????? ???? ??? ??? ???? ? ??? ? ???? ????? ? ??? ? ???? ?? ???? ? ??? ? ????? ?? ???? ???? ? ???? ???? ???? ???? ? ???? ? ??? ??? ???? ??? ???? ??? ?? ????? ???? ???? ?? ??? ??? ???? ??????? ??? ??????? ??? ????? ???? ?? ????? ????? ?? ??? ?

Anger in Islam is not prohibited. There is a place and time for it. We are not animals in that, people can do to us as they chose and we must take all the abuse they send our way. By contrast, to get angry for every petty matter is also not part of our religion.

First we must know the definition of anger

Anger for the average person results from a deluded mindset. This negative or alerted state causes  anger to be displaced upon another entity (human, etc.) that the aggressor feels unattractive or negative towards. Thus at times exaggerating a given occurrence. In the process, the anger functions to 1) sooth an emotion and 2) functions as a convincing variable to our deluded mindset that we are correct in a given act of aggression.

Are you a coward in your anger?

Scholars have said it well: if a person that you have viewed as more superior to yourself (employer, etc.) hurts you in some manner and yet you remain calm, versus anger towards relational partner or any other person you view as more vulnerable or lower to yourself, then chances are you are not justified in your display of anger. For in one case you have fear, and this fear keeps you calm, yet when you are in a dominant position, you exploit the weak with a tempter tantrum! Likewise, our Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) has stated:  strength is not to overpower a person, rather, it is the ability to be calm despite one having the power/control to do mean things.

Everything has a cure (silence is best!)

The cure for anger is simple: when angry, recite dorood (salutations upon Rasulullah SAW). If standing, sit; if sitting then lay down. This may not be practicable for many in all situations. Suffice to say, change the topic or become silent, take longer to respond to that which angers you.  Before you display your anger, ask yourself: 1) what would the consequences be of my given anger? 2) How do I look when I get angry? 3) Do I look nice? 4) Do others find me attractive when I get angry? 5) Am I reacting to the wishers of the devil or my Creator?  Practice this advice for a few months and we assure you profound success, insha-Allah.

Alternatively, say  tawooz, drink water (when not fasting) make wudhu, change your posture or environment. Never be angry for more than three days at a given person. Before you get angry, always ask yourself, can I prove my anger through Quran and Hadith. If the answer remains in the negative, shelve the anger. Scholars have also added, pray for the person you are angry with, and Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) would bring love in your heart. Allah (Subhanahu Wata’Ala) is Merciful, and loves for us to be that way too.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

p.s. the fact that you asked us on how to be silent shows to us that you are aware not only you have a problem with anger, but you are also aware that silence is best response.

hajj with foster parent, etc

Q. Can I go for hajj with my aunt?  I drank her milk as an infant. It was for the first 6 months of my life. (in office question.)

A. One can go for hajj with the person that has breast fed them whilst they were in the state of infancy as described by you.

Pray for (me and) all Muslims whilst in hajj.

highly prefered to not look at EVERYTHING!

Q. Can a man see his wife in ramadaan?

A. We do not comprehend your question. If you are referring to something technical in nature, then we must ask you the following: what do you mean by a man ‘seeing’ his wife?

Under general circumstances, yes, a man can look at his wife. (It would be more rewarding for him to look at his wife, then the wives of others! In fact, to look at strange woman would lower the quality of one’s fast.)

We seek clarity from you. We of course are not asking you for too much detail either. Just enough so as to give you a proper response.

Desires and fasting

Q. How does one control haram sexual desires in Islam? I am not married. (sent June 6th)

A. Fasting curbs desires (hadith).  Such fasting must be done out of sincerity and for sometime before one can attain its  full benefit.
