lets see what you know

Q: Hi,

Questions: I’m LDS (Mormon) with no intention to convert, but I recently attended Friday prayers, and I enjoyed it very much and felt very welcome.  I have some doctrinal questions:

1.  What is the role of women and mothers in Islam?
2. What do Muslims believe about premortal life?
3.  What do Muslims believe about life after death?
4.  What do Muslims believe about repentance and overcoming sin?
5.  What religious beliefs do muslims have about the role of marriage and family?

I really don’t want to get ‘high’

Q: at hospital a cancer patient is told that if she smokes medical mirajuna it would help reduce her bad conditions, increase her appetite and reduce her pain and also help with intake of legal medication. Without going into the details can a person use an intoxicant if it is haram? She is refusing and her parents are pushing for her recovery.  Can we benefit it from a haram product? This is the debate we are undergoing and need you to bring closure to this matter form a fiq point of view (Email and phone query seeking a written response) Continue Reading →

sad if he did it intentionally

Q: Assalamu Alaikum ya imam,
I hope this email reaches you in good health and iman, ameen! Imam I have an akward question for you. I am not really sure how to ask you but since I don’t know who to ask and feel uncomfotable asking, here it is.
Imam, I have been married for a while now (2 years)  and my husband and I have not comsummated our marriage. I think there is something wrong with my husband but am not sure what it is. I think my husband has some health issues. How do I talk to my husband without offending him. I think he knows there is something wrong with him but seems to ignore the issue. Imam, I am getting less younger, and am almost hitting the age of 4o.  I have a great education, great job and would like to have children.  It is a very sensitive issue for both of us, as when people ask us why we don’t have children, he feels uncomfortable.  Jazakumullah khair!

wash or wipe?

Q. My question is about Masah. Explain in detail if possible?
Also many Hanfi people used to Masah on cotton cloths (socks) instead of leather socks, does it correct? To whom  Masah is allowed on cotton socks? Please verify all.
