Q. What is the length that a person must sit between postures in salah? In our musjid the sheikh rushes and lots of arguments occurred…. Some say that the pause must remain a minute …. Is there a basis for this?
A. One must not shift from one posture to the next like a pecking chicken. (Derived from Hadith)
Rasulullah (Sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) used to pause so much so that persons used to think that he (Sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) was out of salaah. (Hadith) This rule does not apply to fard salaah and cannot be found as the continual appropriate practice for fard salaah.
Fard salah must have flow without excessive unnecessary pauses. At the same time, fard salaah must not be rushed.
To await unnecessarily would necessitate a sajdah sawh. More so if the wait was in excess of the time space of three subhanalallahs
Key: eliminate fusion/blending between postures.
Shaytan likes to see fights after salaah and evil thoughts during salaah. Do not let shaytan gain victory over your salaah.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
