beard and female resistance

| 6 Comments

Q.) Aasalamualaykum
Moulana,what is the right length for the beard? Can my fiancé family on her behalf ask me not to keep one? When I went with my family to meet, I had one, and my beard (it is kept neat and tidy about a fist lengh) was not a problem at that time, she feels that I would be missing out on greater job promotions with my beard. I really honestly not happy with her request. Advice please on how to approach the family in refusing such a request. Jazakumulah. Faheem.

Q.) A young person I know keeps a beard to be viewed as pious but he trims it without validity to less then his fist length sighting diff of opinon. is diff or opinion a valid excuse? Does his beard count as a beard?

A.2) A hunch-(feeling) is not proof enough for a better job prospect. Such arguments are from shaytan and his cronies. They live on guess work, true Muslims live on facts derived from Quran and sunnah. Sometimes a lower paying employment gives greater barakat then a higher paying job. Muslims seek barakah in all they do. One way to accomplish this is through obedience and compliance to Allah and His belovered.

A.3) One cannot obey the creation in exchange of the Creator

Don’t do what you not comfortable doing. If you man enough to get married, you should be man enough to make your own halal decisions! (This rule is for men and woman!)

A.4) Be with the pious (ayah) Do not volunteer to be around people that insist and wish for you to assist in the prevention of that which is likened by sunnah. Regardless of how convincing they may be. They are restricting you from the pathway of sunnah, the quran curses such people (ayah). Instead, be with ones the Quran praises.

A.5) Islam is not fashion oriented in its dress code, more-so when it does not represent the sunnah. Keeping goatees and other fantasy or fancy fulfillment facial features would not qualify for a sharia compliant beard. (Just as wearing a scarf that intentionally exposes much of a woman’s hair is not really wearing anything on the head!) Although we should not dictate the above to anyone in a country of choice, we can cordially advice the wise.

{A.6) There are circumstances that allow for trimming of the beard, your query does not necessitate such measures}

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
