Q: I am a painter and artist by profession. Is my whudu valid with paint on my hands? I had one sheik say its okay.  Yesterday an elderly man was very unhappy and insisted i repeat the salah. What is the correct view?

A: You will have to use paint remover as to ensure that the water reaches your skin.  However, if the paint is permeable and thus reaches the skin, upon the water reaching the skin the whudhu would go through (even if the color did not fully come out.)

Thus, if the water did not reach the skin, the salah and whudu would have to be repeated.  If the water reached the skin despite the paint or its color being on the skin, the salah and whudu would be valid.
