Q: i ama revert to islam. i go to a musjid and the imaam is very knowlagble.  he said i can pray in my native language.  then i heard someone say i should try and learn some arabic for my prayer to go through. i did alhamdulillah learn the al fathiha and 5 surahs alhamdulillah.  the qoonoot is very difficult for me to learn. what can i do? can i read half of it as i learn the remainder.  can i read another dua? thank you

A: Congratulations on your choice on wanting to be a Muslim. Your added effort would surly bring you great benefit and reward, ameen.

One can recite any dua they wish. Most preferred are duas that have been established from the Quran and hadith. You can recite part of the Qonoot as you try to learn it all.  If this to is impossible, read any short dua you know form Quran and hadith.example: Rabana aatina fiddunya hasanah, wafil aakhi rathi hasanah waqeena azaa ban naar (Translation with modification: Oh Allah give us good in this world, and in the hereafter give us good, and save us from the torment of the fire.)

May Allah Accept all your Duas, Ameen.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
