diet pills to get a boost

Q:Sallam Allakoum wa Rahmatulahi wa barakatu‎ I’m just curious if it Would it be cheating if I take a diet pill at Suhoorbefore fujr prayer during Ramadaan? It gives me energy to make it through the work day because I deal with clients all day, usually when I’m fasting my energy dies down around 3pm. I’m not making excuses, I’m just curious if I can take a diet pill or not Thank You

A: walaikumsalam,

Diet pills in themselves would not be forbidden provided the ingredients in them are also halal.

A person can take them as part of the suhoor meal, however, as a precautionary measure, should these pills not be good for the health, (creating an increase heart rate, etc.) then in such a situation a person must refrain from placing into their bodies that which is harmful.

As muslims we are to consume not only that which is halal, but that which would also increase the quality of our health.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
