Q: I have been boxing now for three years. i am trying tochange this if its not halal. I earn my money from boxing and feed my family from it. Is this halal or its a difference of opinion? If not what you recommend is halal for me without going to the streets? (email)

• I appreciate your question. Islam does not allow us to beat up people for an income. Particularly, Islam forbids hitting people on the face. Thus, to voluntarily beat up people and to thereafter attain an income from doing so would be impermissible.
• As for a career change, you can assist people in areas of health and wellbeing. You can work as an athletic director, coach, etc. for people suffering from various sicknesses. This would also bring greater value and quality to your life, inshaAllah.
