Q: Asalamulakikum,
Ya shiek,
I started learning quran. Started praying. Giving charity. I also think of myself as superior to others when I do not see them doing what I do. Can you help me with my haram thoughts.

Alhamdulliah, you have realized your weaknesses. You have also realized the detriment of evil thoughts and its effect upon spirituality. This insight is form Allah. Allah loves you and He wants you to improve. For this you must be grateful to Allah.
Reflect upon the following pointers as you say to yourself:
- I must learn to: Hate the sin and not the sinner.
- When a bad thought regarding another comes into your mind, say to yourself: ‘Allah would question me regarding myself, not about others.’
- When evil thoughts come to mind, say to yourself: ‘Shaytan is making me have superior thoughts of myself. By my having superior thoughts, I am giving my hard earned reward of charity, my hard earned reward of praying, my hard earned reward of learning and reciting the Quran to a person I am looking down upon. How smart am i?’ Thereafter reflect upon yourself by additionally asking: ‘is this the reason for why i had been created?’
Reflect upon the above pointers regularly after each salah for about forty days. Beg Allah to change your heart towards loving humanity. Let me know if the helps with gradual positive change.
Allah Certainly Knows Best.
