Q: At Iftar event people wear perfume. I was told perfume breaks fast. Is this true?

A: The confusion regarding scents is due to the following: Form vs the non-form of the product. Inhaling smoke-based scents (like Bakhoor or Agarbatti) intentionally breaks the fast because smoke contains physical particles. However, spraying or smelling liquid perfume does not break the fast, as it has no physical body—especially if you avoid inhaling the wet mist or simply smell it on clothing.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
