Islamic QA for North America

morning pill

Q: There is a trend among newly married girls. After the nikah night in the morning the girl takes the morning pill  to avoid pregnancy.  Is this same as contraception? is it allowed in islam?

A: Using anything that would prevent a fertilized egg from entering itself into the womb is not allowed.  Exception would be made if the health of the mother etc. would be at jeopardy.

This is an incorrect practice that newly married couples are taking part in.

There are other ways to attempt to avoid pregnancy. The above is not one of them.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
