Q: when a child is born in our family, the aunts must get gold. the hair dresser also must get his gift.  Imaam the cost of all this is driving me insane. Is any of this from sunnah?? if not what is sunnah (email)

A: Your duty is to ensure that the child would get a respectable name, do the Aqiqah if you have the funds, shave the head of the child and the weight of hair once established can be converted to purchase silver or its equivalent and given in charity (Jama Al-Fawaid v.1 page210.) Likewise, safrom can be placed on the shaved head according to Miskat shareef.

As a parent, ensure the best education for your child — secular and religious. May Allah (SWT) bless your household with your child (children), Ameen.

p.s. Example, if the hair was 20 grams, see the value of 20 grams of silver and give it in charity.
