Ramadhan will begin on Friday night, July 20, 2012 with the first fast being on Saturday, July 21, 2012.
We have all heard the saying, “Glad tidings for the stranger.” We are certainly living in strange times. Muslims are undergoing challenges of all sorts. The beginning of Ramadaan, it’s Eid, etc. remain a point of contention for a great many. It really hurts when the ummah cannot be united on any level, not just Ramadaan, between shared borders and the like. Regardless of the date chosen to begin fasting, let us be honorable and respectful about our differences. For those who are fasting earlier, let us not waste our fast (rewards) with slandering and other exercises in futility. And for those who choose to begin their fasting later, they should not view themselves as better for following the letter of the Sunnah–this is no more than your duty to your faith.
We at knowyourdeen.com give our full support to those who worked courageously to do the right thing. All thanks is to Allah the Most High and Merciful.
