Q. I live in Salt Lake City. I am on vacation in California. When I go back home do I pray musafir prayer or normal prayer?

A. May Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) bring you back to your abode with safety an ease.

In Islam, all prayer is normal. Musafir salah is called Qasr salah. Salaah at your residence or locality where you reside is called ‘salaah of the Muqeem.’ Muqeem is defined as resident.

Upon arrival to your ‘home,’ you would perform the salaah of the Muqeem, the salah with all is rakats, and not making any of them short as you would do on travel.

Welcome back to you locality with good health — spiritual and physical, Amen.

Allah certainly knows best.
